The best part of my life lasted 18 years and 4 months. To the day. In my mind, it is measured from the day my son Hayden was born to the last day I spent with him on June 1, 2019. Some people will tell you it should be measured by the 2 years and 3 months I spent fighting lung cancer. It wouldn’t be the same without the hundreds of children in more than 25 years of teaching who lifted me higher than I thought possible –and especially the days I spent with Hayden.
I chose to celebrate this journey instead of approach it with fear and anger. That was only possible because of the people in my life—from my closest friends and family, to my church, to my dearest colleagues to parents of my students--who supported me as I discovered what my life would hold.
The Team Lisa Memorial Fund is for him -- for Hayden, my son, my hero, my everything -- so that future children don’t lose a parent to a brutal disease. Please give generously so that my champion, Dr. Gregory Otterson, can fight lung cancer. Help us take one more step toward a cure!
From Heaven where I am at peace, I give you all of my love, Lisa.
